An Evening with the MSO 2020

Soaring woodwinds and deep, resonant brass have made Dvorak's New World symphony consistently one of the world's favourite orchestral works. Melodies inspired by Native American and African-American music evoke the beauty of wide open spaces and a connection to the land. With its soulful lament and lingering echoes of darker memories, it's no wonder this work is a 'must-see' of classical music fans everywhere.

The brilliant Australian-Chinese cellist Li-Wei Qin tackles Saint Saens' Cello Concerto, knwon for its solo part which demonstrates the cello's lyrical and dramatic qualities.

Completing the program is Ravel's tribute to Baroque style, his 1919 orchestral suite, Le Tombeau de Couperin.
